Marvelous Disney

We’ve been talking about this for quite some time now, usually with our tongues firmly planted in our collective cheeks, but here is what we are guardedly calling the first real positive side of this massive corporate buyout. Disney/Marvel-Arab style.

That’s right, there is apparently plans afoot for a Mid-Eastern version of Disney World in place.

Late 2007, United Arab Emirate-based Al Ahli Group and Marvel Entertainment, Inc. announced a partnership that will bring Marvel's full library of Super Heroes - including Spider-Man, Iron Man, The X-Men, Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer - to Dubai for a major new theme park destination being developed by AAG. The Marvel Super-Heroes theme park project was supposed to open in 2011 with an investment of over $1 billion USD but apparently it seems that it will open now in 2012. I don't know yet if the Disney deal with Marvel changed anything in the project, let's hope not

Some pics for that proposed park appear below.

What a great theme park concept, isn't it? I really think that Chimera Design who designed all the concept-arts you've seen above did a stunning job, don't you think so? Also, you can see more concept-arts for other projects they've worked on on the Chimera Design web site.

If everything looks like this in real when the park will be built, i'm ready to reserve my plane ticket for Dubai right now!

For more on this, check out the rest of the pics, and the story.

It will be too expensive a trip, especially now that there is a fail in Dubai Stock Market cause all the mega projects drained too much money

I wouldn't recommend going there right now, but let's hope the economic situation gets much better world wide

My college-age son just announced that he is going into International Relations & PR with a concentration in the Mid East. He will spend next year in Cairo, the following year in Jerusalem, followed by a semester in Interning DC. His goal is to find employment in that part of the world.

His mother and my goal is to visit him extensively once he has.

I’ll send you all pictures.

Working overseas really gets one homesick until getting used to it. Your son will be happy to work there and have you guys visit him

His specialty is PR? Interesting choice. Form far away I wish him good luck
