Fast Food toys in your future

For a while now I've been monitoring the various fast food web sites looking for new comicbook-related items, and well, the Arby’s site has been saying for a while that comicbooks are coming, but they never seem to get here. I might have to drive by the nearest one to see if the website is up to date.

With the popularity of the Transformers 3 movie out there, Burger King is currently involved in a Tie-in with the film, as they have in the past.

Meanwhile, McDonald’s is in the midst of a Star Wars/The Clone Wars promotion.

As we’ve already indicated, Dunkin’ Donuts is promoting Captain America, Subway is all over Green Lantern (finally) and 7-Eleven is pushing Cowboys & Aliens. I wonder if one of the other fast food franchises will also jump in on the Cap bandwagon as the DD promotion seems to trend more to adults than kids (not that I think that Cap is going to be a kid film).

Look what I found...

So, I’ve been told that the original reason for having a garage was to park one’s car. Personally, I don’t think I’ve put our cars in our garages for better than 10 or 15 years (ever since that time I packed the van out and took out the side view passenger mirror).

Well, this past weekend my wife and I went out to the garage and spent a solid hour cleaning it out. Not only did we toss a (small) mountain of stuff, but I located a number of comics, books, and that I had been missing, as well as some tools. Now we can actually walk around (a bit), and we feel very good about (the beginnings) or our clean-up process.

Here is one of the books I found.

Next up was several (Spidey) Christmas tree ornaments that I’ve been looking for for several years.

A few months back, Jim Main the head honcho of Main Enterprises, published a short story of mine, entitled, Too much coffee, Man. in his publication *PPFSZT #28. Well Jim induced me to submit a second story, which I did, and this second story appears in *PPFSZT #30. This second story (like the first) was illustrated by the extraordinarily talented Jack Bertram. The second story is entitled Tea Party.

Jim has three more of my stories that he will be publishing, one is entitled Papyrus (illustrated by the very talented Alex Lopez), a second is entitled Regret (yet to be illustrated), and the third (which I just handed in) is entitled Slabbed.

I have to say that I’m really enjoying submitting stories to Jim. He has about a dozen eclectic publications that he produces on (apparently) random publishing schedules.

Oh, I also contributed an article to Comic Fan #6 about our mutual friend Rusty Haller.

I was out the other day and spotted a vending machine that was dispensing Marvel stickers, so for 50¢ I figured I’d try my luck,and wound up with Dr. Doom.

More Fast Food Superheroes

As discussed, both Captain America and Green Lantern are currently visiting fast food locations this month, (GL is @ Subway, & Cap is @ Dunkin’ Donuts). As we also already know, Green Lantern is also staring in a big budget movie. (Other superheroes in theaters so far this year who also appeared in fast food franchises include Green Hornet (Hardee’s & Carl’s Jr.) and  Thor (7-Eleven), while Marvel’s X-Men made it to the big screen, for some reason there were apparently no toy tie-ins to this comic book flick (fast food or otherwise).

Apparently all cold drinks from Dunkin’ Donuts this month come in a Captain America Cup.

Dunkin’ Donuts even altered its logo to reflect Cap’s presence at the Franchise.
