Oyster Festival 2012

Back in August of this year, I was working @ the Norwalk Seaport's 35^th Annual Oyster Festival, and — as it has for the past three or four years — the Festival had a Sunday morning kid show staring Marvel Comics characters. Once again, I got my picture taken with the characters after the show, and will continue to use the photo as my desktop wallpaper for the next year (until the 2013 Fest, when I will get a new pic.).

Well I just today received the photo from the Oyster Fest volunteer who took the pic for me (John Leskovsky — thanks John). Needless to say, the Marvel stage show was the best attended show that we put on this year. Even better than our lead act, (the lead singer from the rock group Foreigner)

Oh, yeah, and that’s me in the center, sporting my pair of Avengers IDs (one of them signed by then President Ronald Reagan, and the other signed by the head of Homeland Security). Who’s cooler than me?

Marvel Oyster Festival Swag

When I was meeting Spidey and Co. at this year’s Oyster Festival, I was able to acquire some cool swag from the heroes. The first one (even though you can’t really tell from the scan), is a hologram “flicker” card featuring Wolverine. 

I was also able to acquire a Marvel autograph card signed by Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, and (of course) the Green Goblin.

I know, you’re totally jealous!

Spider-Man & Friends @ the Oyster Festival

During this year’s annual Norwalk Seaport Association’s Oyster Festival I (for the third, fourth? year in a row) hung out with my favorite superheroes. As always, it was way fun, and well, here are some of the photos I took of them in action.

Oyster Fest, 2010

So, once again, I spent this past weekend (the weekend after Labor Day) working at the Norwalk Seaport Association’s Oyster Festival. This is the 23rd time I’ve done so, and the third time that we’ve had the Marvel Comics Characters entertain us on Sunday afternoon. It is also the third time that I’ve met said heroes after their performance.

The Marvel Heroes (the three you see here plus supervillain Green Goblin and one of his henchmen (played by the same actor who is in the Hulk suit), also showed up at the event, and put on a children’s show that dealt with physical fitness and how to deal with bullies.

Needless to say, the kids loved it!

 

Shine the Light

So, a couple of months back I acquired a Spidey Light-switch plate, but just recently got around to putting it up in my bedroom. It is a hand-done-one by a crafter that I saw at this year’s Norwalk Oyster Festival. It really is pretty cool:



And while I’m certain that I’ve already shared this image with you all, here is the store-bought Spidey light-switch cover plate that I’ve had for several years, that now is on the wall of my office:



If the guy comes back next year, I think I’m gonna get me some outlet plate covers as well.

Spidey is a personal friend of mine

As I mentioned., Spider-Man (and friends) were at the Norwalk Seaport’s Oyster Festival and well, I got backstage, and and well:

Yep, I met Spidey again this weekend!

So, some of you might remember that last year at the Oyster Festival I met Spider-man and his friends. Well this year I met them again.

The kid-friendly show played to a packed-to-overflowing house on Sunday, and was ecclesiastically greeted by all fans. Last year Spidey and friends talked about the importance of being nice and how to deal with bullies, while this year the message was about the environment. (Interestingly enough, there were a couple of calls to the Seaport office from “offended” parents who felt the message was some sort of “indoctrination” to the kids (read: they objected to one of their kid’s heroes telling the kiddies that they should be driving hybrids instead of SUVs and conserving energy).

I’m telling you that it is getting harder and harder to do something positive, uplifting, and innocuous these days.

Anyways, this year, Joining Spidey was Captain America and Iron Man (as well as the villainous Green Goblin. Here is the (autographed) card I got from them at the event. I have more photos (including one of me with the characters) as well video, and as soon as I can figure out how to get the vids off my phone, I’ll post them as well (the photo of me and the gang was taken by someone else, and when I get it sent to me, I’ll do that as well).

Spidey & Friends are coming! (again)

Last year I got to meet Spidey and his friends at the Norwalk Oyster Festival’s Oyster Festival. and it looks like I’m going to get that opportunity again. I know this as I just got the poster for this year’s event from my buddy, and I know that I’ll get back-stage passes again.

Last year was very fun, so I know that so will this year.

Oh, yeah, I also wanted to share with you that the other day, my wife called me from the road and told me that as she was driving by the local car wash, and that Spidey was out front, waving to folks (this particular car wash does stuff like that occasionally). So being exactly the kind of Spider-geek she knew me to be, I drove by the place myself and snaped a few pics of him:
