Teen Titans are Go @ Sonic!

OK, kids, a week or so back I was passing by a Sonic restaurant and discovered that the Teen Titans were there. Well I managed to score a couple of them (and somehow wound up with duplicates of some). I don’t think that they are there any more (I caught the end of the promotion; darn!). Well, here is what I got and what I’m missing. Hopefully I'll be able to find the rest online.

Minions Among us!

Ok, so we all know that Disney just released Minions, a prequel to the company's twin hit films, Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, only this time around, there is no Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) and we just get to enjoy the funny escapades of those delightful creatures without the “interference” of a co-star. Well, what you might not know is that the Minions are virtually everywhere, including, (as it turns out) McDonald’s.

Well we managed to acquire a full set of the 12 Minions and — unlike the last time the Minions paired up w/Micky D’s — this time they can talk:

Well, we are a week into the promotion and yep, we’ve managed to score a full set of 12.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

OK kids, it is official, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has toys at McDonald’s. We just stopped in and there are a total of 16 boys (eight boy toys and eight girl toys). We acquired the first four of each set, and well, we are totally stoked.

Tony Stark buys Burger King!

OK, OK, he really didn’t (but wouldn't it be wicked-cool if he did?), but we just wanted to announce that Iron Man 2 toys have finally (finally) arrived at Burger King, and as soon as we get our morning work done, we’re going to run out and grab up as many toys as we can find.

Whoo-Haa!

Hey, ever Google yourself? (keep it clean.) Well I just did, and found this old link to an article that was published in regards to the book I wrote in 2001 about fast food toys.

The kiddie-meal toys your children collect are more than child's play. They may be worth money.

They already are to Robert J. Sodaro of Norwalk, Conn., author of his first book, "Kiddie Meal Collectibles," a comprehensive price guide for the ever-growing market of fast-food toy collectibles.

"Many of these toys have a great level of ingenuity," says Sodaro, an avid superhero comic book, toy and gadget collector. "Some would be worth $3 to $5 at any toy store, and people are getting them for free."

Legion of Superheroes is in the Fast Food House

A few weeks back I talked about the fact that the Legion of Superheroes had a set of toys that were given away with Happy Meals at McDonald’s. Well, I was a touch upset then as I found out after the promotion was over. Thankfully we have ebay, so I went online to acquire a set.

As luck would have it, I found a set that was reasonably priced (I’m sure my wife would disagree, but since she thinks all the toys look the same, and never reads my blog, what she doesn’t. know won’t hurt me). Anyway. The set came and I was happy, that is until I opened it up and found out how lame they were.

I mean, seriously, the toys don’t come with bases, and can’t stand up on their own, which makes playing with them and/or displaying them all but impossible. Ah well, you can’t always get quality toys I suppose. Well, if you missed them too,here is what they look like.





Oh, yeah, writing about all of this stuff reminds me that I need to update the fast food information on SpiderFan. So I’m going to sign off now and get to that. see you later (Perhaps I’ll go look for the 12" Justice League of America toys that came with the kid meal from a European fast food food chain.)

Spidey Week may be over, but here come the FF!

Imagine my surprise when I went into Burger King the other day, and noticed that Spidey had been replaced by the Fantastic Four. Yeah, yeah, I knew that the FF has stealth-filmed their way into theaters this year (until I saw the trailer, I honestly had no idea the the film was even in the works — as soon as I pen the review, I’ll post it on my review page over at PopThought). Well, anyway, I’m really happy that not only is the film being made, but that BK has chosen to distribute Kid Meal toys with it.

There are six toys, and I already have four of them. I’m hoping to score the other two over the weekend or early next week. Here are the toys that I have collected thus far from BK. The toys are seriously cool, (especially for a Fast food toy collector like myself who dabbles in superheroes). Anyways, the next two toys in the set are Dr. Doom and the Invisible Woman.

I don’t know if there are any other comicbook films due out this year, but if there are, I hope that they also have fast food toy tie-ins.
