JLA is at Sonic Drive-ins

I know that it has been a while since we last posted, but it has been a while since we’ve had something to say, and now we do.

We’ve just discovered that there are Justice League of America toys are currently popping up at Sonic Drive-In Restaurants.

As you can see there are six toys in this set. So far I have five of them: The toys are a series of cardboard Villain stand-ups that you knock down with superhero projectiles.

The only pair I’m missing at the moment is Superman vs. Lex Luthor, but I hope to score that soon.

This is not the first time that Sonic has partnered with DC Comics to bring the JLA to the Drive-In, It did so previously in February 24, 2012 with a set of JLA plushes. 

DC comics is moving...

McDonald's is for the Brave & the Bold

OK Kids, when it rains, it pours. It really pours, as you all know we are experiencing a high volume of  Thor-related fast food movie tie-ins at the moment (with Thor toys appearing at both 7-11 & Burger King), well McDonald’s has taken this time to launch a truly impressive set of Batman Brave & Bold toys.

This outstanding set is eight packages, each containing three (yes, three separate) toys for a total of 24 toys. Seriously, this is a very cool set. Just look at what the first four packages contain!

Looking for an All-Ages comicbook?

While there are those that say “All Ages” and really mean something that they've “dumbed down” for kids, there are others, like the very talented comicbook writer, illustrator Jay Piscopo, who has created a throughly unique, and quite entertaining character in his new comic The Sea Ghost #1 (Nemo Publishing Group, $3.99).

Sea Ghost originally appeared in Piscopo’s graphic novel series, Capt'n Eli, and is clearly influenced by Piscopo’s love of Aquaman, and creators like Alex Toth, and Ramona Fradon. The story told in Sea Ghost #1 is sparkling, straightforward, and throughly entertaining, but don’t just take my word for it, head on over to Jay’s site and snag a copy of your own.

Creatures of the night

OK, not really, but sort of. Just last month McDonald's featured a set of Marvel Hero toys, well, this month they are going the other way as it were and featuring a set of DC superhero toys. Headlined by DC's own dark creature of the night, Batman...

It looks like Green Arrow, Plastic Man, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman are also involved, along with villains, the Joker and Black Manta. Looks like I know where I'm going to for lunch today, eh, droogs?

And then, well, there’s this...

Oh My God, they drowned Aquaman!!!

That’s right bouys and gulls, the recent merger of UPN and The WB has already claimed its first victim, the never actually titled Smallville spin-off that was to have featured a young Aquaman. The proposed series is now deader in the water than yesterday’s fish.

So now, I suppose you could say that Aquaman sleeps with Luca Brasi* — not that there is anything wrong with that.
