As you all know by now, Spider-Man re-appeared at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Here are a couple of clips of him:

Spidey returns to the Macy’s Day Parade

That’s right folks, this Thanksgiving Day, after an absence of more than a decade. The original Spider-Man balloon had a landmark run that began in 1987 and ended in 1998. Since then, Spidey-philes have been eagerly awaiting the webcrawler’s return to the parade path, which will finally occur this year.

That’s right, kids. Spidey is back:

Marvel's legendary crime-fighting web-slinger made his Macy's Parade debut in 1987, becoming an instant classic. Hailed by spectators, amateur photographers and millions of the Super Hero's fans, the Spider-Man balloon became an icon of the Parade's signature giant character balloon line-up. Flown in the holiday spectacle for twelve years, the balloon was retired following the 1998 procession. The new Spider-Man balloon debuting in this year's Macy's Parade combines the classic pose of the previous giant—his arms outstretched in front of him and his legs bent behind in full crawling mode—but this time it will feature Spidey's classic web-slinging pose coupled with a more modern look. The Spider-Man balloon will be a part of the Macy's Parade through 2011.

I don’t know about the rest of you Alices, but I know where I’m going to be when the Parade is on, and that is parked right in front of the TV.

Oh yeah, and from what I understand, Amazing Spider-Man Assistant Editor Tom Brennan is going to be one of the balloon handlers. Now how cool is that?

Spider-Man returns to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Now here is some good news!

Some time back I (along with some 2161 other folks) signed an online petition to bring Spider-Man’s balloon back to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Well, after three block-buster movies, and a date with Broadway in 2010, Spidey is Back!

You read that right, Spider-Folk! Spidey will return to the parade this year!

Marvel and Macy’s have announced that, after far too long of an absence, the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will be making a triumphant return to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year. I had stopped watching this thing years ago, but with a little one in the house now, it’s back on the Must See docket of holiday specials, and I do admit that I was kind of curious as to how and why I managed to miss Spidey this last go-round. This press release solved that mystery and cheered my day just a little bit.

I might have to actually watch the parade this year!

It’s a Day, you Turkey!

So today is the day of all Turkeys, and it is time for my annual appeal to everyone to sign the online petition to bring the Spider-Man balloon back to the Macy’s Day Parade.

The Petition is not mine, but I happened across it a couple of years back, so I like to remind everyone of it at this time of the year. As I understand it, Spidey hasn’t been par tof the parade for over a decade, and there are those of us inthe fan community that think that this is wrong. especially given as how popular Spidey is these days (owing mostly to the movies).

Anyway, because we don’t get to see Spidey today, here he is from days of yore.
