NY Post stops cover-promoting Spidey!

So what’s up with this? I just acquired the current (Thursday, Sept 28 edition) of the NY Post, and it is apparently no longer cover-promoting the inclusion of the Spider-Man Collective series edition contained within (and yes boys and girls, have no fear, but the Valued Spidey edition is inside).



I’m not sure what that all means, but so long as the comic is there, who really cares, eh?

Yeah, that’s right kids, today’s my birthday, and I’m 51, so that means that not am I currently older than I thought, I’m older than I thought possible! Plus, I’m old enough to be all of your dad (and for some of you, your Granddad).

‘Aint Life Grand?

Spidey goes Medieval!

Yep folks, our webbed hero, Spider-Man is everywhere, even in Mystical armor in cyberspace. My son Dylan, plays WoW (World of Warcraft, and discovered someone wearing Spider-Man armor, no, seriously. He snapshotted the screen, and e-mailed it to me, because he knew that it was just the sort of thing that I would geek out over. I’m presenting those images below.



The first shot shows a full shot of the armor, while this second shot shows how much fun even mystical D&D-type characters can have while wearing Spidey Armor.



On the more mundane Spidey front, today is Thursday, and we once again have Spidey in the NY Post.

After some careful consideration, I’m of the opinion that last week’s glitch (Spidey appearing in Wednesday’s rather than Thursday’s paper) was a processing/production error on the part of the paper (holiday scheduling, or some such), hence the comic appearing this week on Thursday again.

I don’t know if there was any “official” explanation, but I’m going with that.

News from the Big Apple (Con)!This past weekend was the first Big Apple Con that I attended in about a year. I went in with CAG Prez Keith Murphey, as we began our Psychosis! World Tour Grass-Roots Gurrella-Marketing Stealth World Tour (Hey, I just learned that I’m GWP’s Director of (Mis)Information, so I figured that means that I get to name it, eh?) Anyway, while in the city we hooked up with some friends, fellow CAGers, and pros. I met Melvin Ylagan (one of the cover artists), and Keith went off to do a photo shoot with Mark some other CAGers, and (from what I understand, a very lovely young co-ed model, type — sorry I missed that shoot).

A Day Early and 50¢ too soon!

I'm not sure why, but this week’s Spidey Comic came a day early and showed up on Wednesday, instead of Thursday. Perhaps the folks at the NY Post simply can’t tell one day of the week from another, or perhaps they were simply interested in pissing off some of their loyal readers. Who knows?

Thankfully a good buddy of ours who lives in the city alerted us to the fact, and we were able to secure our copy. Still, the mere fact that The Post would change the day that it releases the comic would seem to be counter-productive to their reason for putting the comic in the paper in the first place. Yes, it is only the third week of the promotion, but by now, people who are looking for it, will have already gotten used to getting the comic on Thursday, and will likely have missed this week’s. Sure, they might acquire new people who didn’t know about it, but mores likely that they are simply going to piss off people who are already on the lookout for the comic on Thursday.

Still, it is entirely possible that they simply don’t understand that there are some folks (like us) who are only picking up the paper on Thursday because of the comic, but I think that’s both short-sighted, and highly unlikely, as well as simply poor planning and marketing on their part.

On another front, last night for dinner I actually ate Spider-Man (no, not like that you Pervs). I had a box of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese: the Spider-Man edition.

Yes that’s right, you can read the (reprint) comic (in the New York Post), you can watch the films (on DVD), you can surf him on the Web (at SpiderFan.org), you can play with his toys, and now you can even eat him.

How cool is that?

OK, yeah, I am in need of some serious help. What say someone pass the Uncle Jack, eh?
