I’ve long been a fan of the CBLDF (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund). It is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the protection of our First Amendment rights, especially as they relate to the comic art form and its community of retailers, creators, publishers, librarians, and readers. The CBLDF provides legal referrals, representation, advice, assistance, and education in furtherance of these goals.

I was a member several years ago, and — for reasons that now escape me — allowed my membership to elapse. Not so any more. I’ve re-upped my membership, and I strongly urge anyone (and everyone) connected to the comics community to do the same.

Oh yeah this year the membership card is from Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire.
